The Finkelstein Foundation supports and strengthens projects in public space on dealing with forced labor during the time of National Socialism. This educational tour will bring you historical knowledge about forced labor with focus on I.G. Farben, it will also shed light on how the successor company Bayer dealt with it. The program will encourage you to think about your own way of dealing with history and how to derive everyday actions in our jobs in the present.
In May 2024, Weimar became home of the Museum Forced Labor under National Socialism . The permanent exhibition shows the history of forced labor under National Socialism in full extent, frames it as a racially motived crime, perpetrated largely in public view. Over 60 individual cases are documented and accompanied by photographs. A core aspect of the exhibition is the relationship between Germans and forced laborers and the scope of actions possible for the victims and participants. In its epilogue, the exhibition addresses the post-war period and claims for justice.
There is a limited number of participants, that’s why we need to choose 18 applications. To take part, please write a short motivation letter. The choice will be made by the Finkelstein Foundation based on countrywide distribution and your interests to coveras many perspectives as possible.
The pilot program has been prepared by the Museum Forced Labor under National Socialism and the Finkelstein Foundation for employees of companies.
The costs for the program, accommodation and catering will be paid by the Finkelstein Foundation. In case of participation, you will need to organize and pay your return trip to Weimar.
