The Building Cultures of Remembrance (BCOR) programme is a transatlantic exchange initiative for professionals and executives from Germany and the USA who are engaged with the intersection of remembrance culture and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The aim of the programme is to facilitate an in-depth dialogue on the role of companies in dealing with history and to develop ideas for responsible social action in the present, whilst taking into account the different national and community perspectives.

In 2026, the focus will be on how corporate responsibility can contribute to strengthening social cohesion. In particular, the importance of a critical engagement with (corporate) history will be examined, and discussions will centre on what lessons can be drawn from this for today’s economic and social challenges.

The programme promotes exchange between stakeholders from the private sector, civil society and academia, with the aim of jointly developing approaches to a forward-looking practice of remembrance.

BCOR comprises two interlinked study tours: a trip to Germany from 20 to 27 September 2026 and a trip to the USA from 15 to 22 November 2026. Participants will gain insights into different perspectives and practical approaches on both sides of the Atlantic.

The programme is designed and implemented by Cultural Vistas and supported by the Transatlantic Programme of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, as well as by the Hans and Berthold Finkelstein Foundation, which is a funding partner.

Applications for the 2026 programme year are open until 28 June 2026.
