Workshops on the contemporary relevance of remembering Nazi injustice and resistance
As part of the ‘ErinnerungsZeit’ (Time to Remember) project, the Berghof Foundation held a series of workshops on the importance of remembering Nazi injustices and historical and contemporary resistance.
Eighty years after the end of the Second World War, the project offered young people a contemporary approach to examining historical forms of opposition to the Nazi regime and contemporary manifestations of group-focused enmity.
The central element was the animated visual novel ‘ErinnerungsZeit’ (Time of Remembrance), which was designed to promote decision-making skills and resilience against discriminatory attitudes and behaviour. The accompanying free app was used in both school and extracurricular education.
Parallel to the app, pedagogically accompanied workshops were held for young people aged 14 and above. These were implemented by qualified peer trainers and offered in three- or five-hour versions. The formats were flexibly adapted to different groups and conditions and deepened the content of the visual novel.
To support teachers and multipliers, the Berghof Foundation also offered several free online workshops. These took place on 30 September 2025, 4 November 2025 and 13 January 2026 and provided background knowledge and concrete examples of how the material can be used in educational settings.
The Hans and Berthold Finkelstein Foundation supported the project in 2025 with its implementation, the running of the first workshops and the promotion of the offer.
Further information on the project and access to the app are still available at www.erinnerungszeit.com.
