‘No Time to Forget’

On November 12, 2025, a workshop on Nazi forced labor, responsibility, and commitment to democracy today was held in Weimar for company employees.

United for Democracy

The event was jointly organised by the Society for Corporate History (GUG), the Foundation ‘Remembrance, Responsibility and Future’ (EVZ) and the Hans and Berthold Finkelstein Foundation. Participants from eight companies engaged in an intensive discussion on how companies can come to terms with their own history and commit to democracy and diversity today.

The program included a guided tour of the museum's permanent exhibition “Forced Labor under National Socialism,” expert input on research, remembrance culture, and educational work, as well as a World Café on opportunities for democratic and historical engagement in companies. As part of the World Café, the EVZ Foundation presented its blended learning offerings, the GUG showed the studies it has conducted to date, and the initiative “Open to Diversity. Closed to Exclusion” presented its work. The Finkelstein Foundation and the Business Council for Democracy presented their joint program “Leaders for Democracy,” which empowers young leaders to actively promote democratic values. The central message of the workshop was: Remembrance is responsibility. Confronting one's own past forms the basis for a value-oriented corporate attitude – especially in times when fundamental democratic values are under pressure.
